Dean of Students, Anthony Montesion oversees the provision of school-based services and interventions with students and families, while leading the Student Support Team and other staff as appropriate to ensure a safe and orderly school environment that promotes academic achievement and contributes to the well-being of all students. Through a variety of roles, he leads many efforts to promote the academic progress and healthy development of every student. Overseeing day-to-day discipline at the school the Dean of Students works with other staff to provide school-based services and interventions with students and families. He also supports teachers in the classroom to improve students’ behavioral and academic performance and is the supervisor of the Student Support Team, to include the school nurse, as well as a contributor to the teacher observation and evaluation process.
Director of Finance, Brenda Jones reports to Finance Committee and BOT. She is responsible to oversee the financial aspects and resources of the school; ensure the smooth operation of the business office and the lunch program. The Business Manager also is responsible for budgeting, school finance, development and maintenance of accounting and internal control systems, internal and external financial reporting, purchasing and supply management, grants financial reporting, and human resource management.
Director of Information Technology, Brian Sullivan is responsible for maintaining the school’s network, servers, databases and approximately 200 workstations and laptops, helping students and staff use technology for learning and productivity, and coordinating all activities related to technology in the school in order to advance the mission of North Central Charter Essential School.
Facilities Director, Bob Briggs will plan, organize, control and direct Sizers’ custodial, maintenance, grounds keeping activities and related services; coordinate flow of communications between administrators, personnel and outside organizations; as well as train and supervise the performance of assigned personnel.
Title 1 Director, Melissa Hutchins monitors program implementation and provides technical assistance to improve school-wide planning, budgeting, and needs analysis to support school improvement strategies and evaluation measures to meet the requirements of the No Child Left Behind Legislation.
Associate Director of Executive Operations, Janet O'Hara is responsible for ensuring that the Executive Director has the support s/he needs to do their best work. This position maintains efficient and effective communication, time management and information systems to keep the Board of Trustee, DESE related and executive operations and leadership running smoothly.
Associate Director of School Operations, Maryann Macri is responsible for ensuring that the Principals have the support they need to do their best work. This position maintains efficient and effective communication, time management and information systems to keep the school operations and leadership running smoothly; as well as being responsible for overseeing all standardized testing (initial assessments, MCAS, etc.) and managing student data.
Instructional & Technical Integration Coach, Linda Tarantino in partnership with Principal, Teaching and Learning and the Director of Technology will collaboratively promote the learning and growth of all students and the success of educators by cultivating the growth toward mastering the standards outlined in the MA Model and the Sizer Framework for Exemplary Teaching. The focus will be nurturing a culture of collaborative/reflective adult learning; ensuring high quality instruction in a safe and effective learning environment by building teacher engagement and instructional strategies; supporting the initial draft of the Sizer Program of study, support the compete implementation of DDMs, work to develop Individualized Learning Plans and supports the integration of technology into the classroom, curriculum, professional learning environment and family communication.
Academic Leadership Team: Members review curriculum elements, MCAS scores and standings, Annual Yearly Progress reports and student demographic reports. The team works closely with the Principal to monitor student outcomes, develop curriculum and helps to drive academic growth. The team brings new initiatives to the faculty and supports them with curriculum expectation through observation, evaluation and feedback to ensure that the faculty meet the expected goals, follows process and develop strategies to improve the way work is done. Subject Area Leaders/Coaches are stipend positions responsible to provide feedback to the Principal regarding teacher performance as requested. They provide coaching, support and leadership to all teachers within their team on curriculum development, instructional strategies and assessment. Each coach ensures alignment of the instructional practices with their subjects state frameworks in the School. Our Subject Area Heads/Coaches are as follows:
Grade Level Team Leaders (GLTeam Leaders) are responsible for coordinating the efforts of all grade level teachers to ensure consistent and effective communication and collaboration amongst teachers, student services personnel, and administrative personnel for the purpose of promoting student achievement. The GLTeam Leader develops the team’s ability to follow pre-referral processes to ensure achievement of all students; and promotes policies, procedures, and systems that support learning, teaching, and achievement of the mission, vision, and goals of the school. The GLTeam Leader also acts as a liaison to the Principal for any grade level concerns.
Communications & Student Recruitment Coordinator, Maria Vazquez is responsible for promoting the school and its activities in efforts to broaden school awareness in the communities it serves and to engage community partners and volunteers in the serving and supporting of Sizers’ academic programming. This role is focused on the development, securing and sustaining relationships that result in the following:
• Increased awareness and positive perception of the school in the communities it serves.
• Increased enrollment and student interest.
Enrichment Coordinator (AD), Ryan Prescott is responsible for overseeing all before and after-school programing, including the interscholastic athletics program at Sizer, which currently includes boys’ and girls' soccer and girls’ field hockey in the fall, boys’ and girls’ basketball in the winter, and boys’ and girls’ lacrosse, baseball, and softball in the spring. This role is expected to organize all aspects of the current program and to lead future development of athletics at this young and growing school.
