Stephanie Davolos, reports directly to the Board of Trustees, and provides the management and leadership to implement the school’s mission, vision and strategic plan for student academic success. The Executive Director also serves as leader of leaders and public spokesperson for the school; Spearheads and develops strategic initiatives; and Builds and sustains a collaborative culture in keeping with school’s vision and mission.
Stephanie Davolos joined Sizer School, A North Central Charter Essential School in July 2007. For fifteen years Ms. Davolos was a leader and builder of two of the most socially entrepreneurial non-profit organizations in the country, Teach For America and Citizen Schools. She was a founding staff member at Citizen Schools where she was instrumental in the growth of the organization from one small after-school program in Dorchester, MA serving 40 students in 1995 to 32 academically oriented, apprenticeship-based after-school programs in public schools across Massachusetts and the nation serving more than 2500 students. Ms. Davolos earned a B.A. in French and Art History from Dickinson College and her Masters in Education from Harvard Graduate School of Education. She taught French in rural Louisiana and was Regional Director in Louisiana for Teach For America serving over 150 corps members from New Orleans to Baton Rouge and beyond. Prior to joining Sizer she served as Massachusetts Regional Director at Citizen Schools where she led the organization’s expansion to seven cities across Massachusetts. She is also a certified member of the National Institute for School Leadership. Ms. Davolos lives in Hubbardston with her two daughters where she has also been on the Hubbardston Center School Council.

Tricia May has been the Principal at Sizer School since 2007. Specializing as the Principal, for Student Services, she is a founding staff member (2002) as well as the parent of a Sizer student and founding Sizer alumna.
She graduated Cum Laude from Fitchburg State Univ. with a B.S in Human Services and an M.S. in Counseling. Ms. May is a licensed Special Educator, School Social Worker, Guidance Counselor, and School Principal. She has earned recognition for excellence in teaching, leadership in education & social justice, and service to youth. She has been a Special Education Teacher, School Guidance Counselor, School Adjustment Counselor, Special Education Director, and Student Services Director. With the hopes, dreams and interests of young people in mind, Ms. May is dedicated to making real a North Central MA literacy zone.

Carey Doucette, serves as the Principal focused on Teaching & Learning. In collaboration with teachers and staff, she ensures that Sizer School is a rigorous and personalized academic environment where all community members grow as learners.
Growing up in Fitchburg, Ms. Doucette graduated with honors from the University of Massachusetts (Amherst) with a B.S. in Exercise Science and earned a Masters in Teaching Biology from Fitchburg State University. She was a founding faculty member at Sizer (2002) and taught Biology and Middle School Math and served as the Co-Chair of the Math & Science Team prior to be coming Principal in 2011.

Melissa Hutchins serves as the Principal focused on Specialized Instruction. In this position she is responsible for overseeing programs to support students who are at-risk for academic under performance due to learning disabilities, English as a second language acquisition, emotional and/or physical challenges so that they can succeed in the school’s academic program. Specialized Instruction holds primary responsibility for providing academic, emotional, and physical services for students who require supplementary support in order to thrive at the school. She will develop, support and supervise a team of specialized instructors made up of grade level learning specialists, reading and math specialists, paraprofessionals and other support staff. This team will serve to provide specialized instruction as identified through IEP’s, 504s as well as tiered interventions associated with catch up support for students who arrive at school below grade level in core content matter.
Melissa Hutchins enjoys reading, writing, research, music, singing, travel and vegetable gardening. Having worked at the Berkshire Arts and Technology Charter Public School, AmeriCorps VISTA, North Adams Public Schools and Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, Ms. Hutchins joined Sizer School in 2009 as a 10th Grade Learning Specialist and 10th Grade Team Leader and was promoted to Principal with a focus on Specialized Instruction in 2014. She earned her B.A. in Sociology and Women’s Studies from Wheaton College and received her Masters in Education with a concentration in Special Education from the MA College of Liberal Arts.
